Ropeye supports the innovation from the next generation

Ropeye is not only an high quality production driven company, but we deeply care about innovation and sustaining new challenges.

This is why we decided to support the project of Politi Sailing, project that was born in the University of Politecnico di Torino, were a group of young skilled students developed and produced a Moth for the scope of competing at the Foiling Week. On top of being performance driven, they also developed the project being completely sustainable.

This is what they told us: “This year we are developing a new prototype to compete in The Sumoth Challenge 2024 during the Foiling Week: VICTORIA will be the first Moth in our fleet to be fully modular. In the spirit of sustainability, we want this boat to serve the team long after its first year of competition, so every component will be replaceable and adjustable so the solid foundation of hull, deck and internal structure can serve as a test bench for future trials and research.

In terms of performance targets, we built a narrow and light hull in order to enhance speed and efficiency: we have been able to do this by using an optimization software capable of generating different prototypes based on a parametric CAD we outlined, considering specific constraints and selecting the most performant designs by measuring their drag.

The last key focus of the design is the electronic flight control system, which is precise and completely reliable, allowing the boat to smoothly takeoff and keep flying on its own. The electronics are complemented by a telemetry system to monitor the boat's speed, altitude and balance in real time.

We chose Ropeye to secure the rope circuits because their products best met our needs: they are reliable, durable, versatile, and easy to install. Ropeye is a leading company, and as a student team we are inspired by their approach to innovation. This is an exciting partnership for us, and we couldn't be more satisfied with the technical advice and support they have given us to help us choose the best items”.

If you want to know more, you can find us at the foiling week, held in Malcesine from June 26th till July 5th.
