Quebec-Saint Malo
Alberto Bona and Luca Rossetti , both Ropeye athletes since the time of the mini classe 6.5, (Luca 1st and Alberto 5th), just crossed the starting line of the Quebec Saint Malo, onboard IBSA.
As a company, we love to support our athletes by allowing them to rig their boats to the highest standards, so that they just have to focus on the race, knowing that the boat is reliable. Alberto told us: “we wanted to add a small improvement onboard in Quebec, but we needed a quick yet reliable fit, and the Ropeye XS could have not been a better solution”.
The Transat Québec Saint-Malo (TQSM) is the oldest ocean race from west to east, non-stop and crewed. Every four years since 1984, ocean runners set off on the St. Lawrence River, between Quebec and Lévis, to take on the challenges of the Navigation of the St. Lawrence and its pitfalls, currents and tides, to cross the Atlantic In the north, avoid the iceberg and in fine enter the Manica through intense maritime traffic and the current traffic.
Luca told us: “We are going to approach the race dividing it into pieces, so we can visualise what is next and always be focused. Firstly, we have the San Lorenzo river, which is not an easy task, we have to constantly monitor the tides and the currents. Secondly, the river enlarges and we have to pass trough different marks to finally get to the open ocean”.
Alberto added: “Obviously will be crucial to manage energy onboard. Each section of the race has to be approached as sharply as the previous”.
Are you going to follow them? We are team IBSA, but let’s not forget Acrobatica and Alla Grande Pirelli, both Ropeye’s athletes as well!
