ROLEX MIDDLE SEA RACE
The Rolex Middle Sea Race course is approximately 606 nautical miles long and is sailed anti-clockwise, starting from Grand Harbour, Valletta, Malta
It is considered one of the most challenging races due to the unpredictable weather in the Mediterranean sea in October, the length of the race, the different geographical scenario offered by like the Messina straight and the multiple Sicilian islands.
The mix of all these elements, and the beautiful scenario, attires a magnificent fleet of outstanding boats, and this year we participated with Matteo Sericano and Lucente, the class 40 he skippers.
As we are publishing the article, the race is still on, but Lucente is now second in the class 40 fleet, battling for the first spot.
As soon as the races started, a strong squall hit the fleet, gusting up to 60 knots, and a substantial number of the fleet had to retired due to damage, however Lucente kept going leading the fleet, sailing closed to Maxis and the first “big boat” of the fleet.
We are cheering or them, are you ?
